Douglas A. Welton
Douglas A. Welton has been a part of the Charlotte theatre and performing arts community since the mid-80s, appearing on stage with Charlotte Rep, Theatre Charlotte, Actor's Theatre, Children's Theatre and many others. Apart from his appearances on stage, Douglas has worked as a director, writer, and producer, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees for both the Golden Circle Theatre and Actor's Theatre. In addition to his theatrical connections, Douglas has also been an active participant in Charlotte's Performance Art community creating pieces for the Choreographer's Boyfriend, The Moving Poets, The Psycho-Kinetic Event, The Light Factory and several visual arts events and openings. Douglas also spent the late-70s/early 80s being a new wave music "radio pioneer" and lead singer for his band, The Dangerous Types. Recently, Douglas took on the role of theatre writer for elevate, a hip local magazine targeted at Charlotte's growth demographic of 25-44 year-olds, and since October 2002, he has been the host of ARTS à la Mode (formerly Theatre à la Mode presents Conversations), a weekly cable program available to Time Warner customers in Charlotte.
